Jeesh!

Here I am again. There is nothing special. I was here so I thought I'd pitch out a little prose. Take it or leave it.

New Blog City: Lame Post

I need to watch the two hour Heroes from last week. So I can't post tonight.
Get over it.
I know I did.
Have a beautiful evening.

New Blog City: Skip and miss

Today at work I found out that someone had been fired.
That someone probably deserved to be fired.
But it is almost like someone dying.
It caused a disturbance in the force.
Now two of the housekeeping staff are fighting.
One of them wants to quit.
One of the CNAs wants to quit also.
I'm not superstitious.
Are you?

New Blog City: Nobody Died

Today there were no deaths or overnight deaths,
I mean, in my particular place of employment.
So now what do I do.
Should I type about something else?
That's a rhetorical question.
I am obviously typing about something else.
Sadly all I am typing about so far
is the prospect of typing something other than about dead people.
Historically I have included something inflammatory.
These are topics such as genitals or sexuality
and alcohol consumption or expletive words.
All of these are useful, valuable, and worthwhile topics.
Please feel free to include any of these topics in your comments.
I have not begun to receive any comments since I have started
New Blog City.
Of course it helps to go out and post comments on other blogs.
I'll be shopping around.
Oh yes...I haven't posted any photos yet.

New Blog City: Skipped a day and Grandma died

Today at work another little old lady died.
I was the nurse on duty.
Yesterday she was taking her pills and answering questions.
Today she was in death mode and indeed did die.
I went to lunch for 1/2 hour.
While I was gone the priest came and gave last rights.
When I came back from lunch I was informed that she had passed.
I was planning on giving her some more morphine for pain after my lunch.
Now it was lunch time for the residents.
How would I do the medication pass, the family notification,
the notifying of the funeral home and the paperwork?
Whew, the charge nurse came to help me.
She was told that she was helping me because I hadn't done this before.
Not true. It was because there wouldn't be enough time to do it all.
Nonetheless, I got the help and the work got done.
So the lesson I have learned is to never skip a day of blogging again.
I'm not superstitious are you?

New Blog City: Old Folks Home

It is 9:07 pm. I will use this time to blog/write instead of just letting the TV live while I watch. It is not the optimum time but...it is a better use of my time.

Today is 1/3/10. Upon arrival at work this am I was informed that one of the residents had passed away during the night. Not 3 hours after my arrival another resident passed away. This is the nature of my job. People, living through what may be the most difficult times of their lives, are cared for by the staff of the long term care facility. People whom, by the machinations of time, have different images of entertainment, propriety, relationships etc. than the people by whom they are being cared for. Nonetheless, people just the same and equally susceptible to be enchanted by the other. Relationships form and deepen during the long term of care. Caregivers must adapt their care as the deterioration of the health and well being of their charges evolves. A few are there for rehabilitation but many will eventually draw their last breath within the halls and chambers of the place wherein they received the loving care they so deserve after building the community in which we all live.

Although it is often expected and words such as, "They are better off now." or "They will suffer no longer." are spoken, the loss is felt no less deeply. So, the caregivers steel their hearts and comfort their more grief stricken cohorts. There are never judgments about the grieving and always quarter given or slack picked up by sympathetic coworkers when the grieving become less productive. This being one of the times when comraderie is built in the form of appreciation for the help and observation of the depth of heart that coworkers possess.

Whence cometh the next post? (danger! potentially offensive material ahead!)

Tonight will the prosaic poser pontificate?

Would you rather have a rhythmic rhymer
A slippery slider or mere pass timer
Could the vowels and consonants move
With alliterations sing song groove

Come with me and traipse along
whisper prayer or belt a song
laugh a little gasp with shock
touch your clit or grab your cock

Never could you ere be wrong
poetry's been here so long
anything in poetry goes
even if it's simply prose

Hold your breath and jump!

There are just not enough hours in the day, days of the week or months of the year to do all the things that I want to do. If I wanted to be an entrepreneur, I would have to give up something else. If I wanted to be a writer, I would have to give up taking care of the yard and making improvements. If I wanted to be a wood carver, I would need more room, time and equipment. If I wanted to be just what I am, I would have to keep doing what I am doing and keep on doing that and keep on...
How on earth does one change at this time of life without taking enormous risks and having to learn a lot of new tricks? This is not a pleasant prospect. However...it does take courage of some kind.

MMM? MMMMM!

I've been gone to Facebook. It's not the same over there. You can't write long flowing passages.
Things go really fast and it's hard to keep up with everybody.
There is some kind of contest to see who can get the most "friends".
However, it is quick and dirty. That's kind of satisfying at times.
But a long slow approach and a gradual build up to a crescendo can be unforgettable.
Love.

I almost blogged

A few days ago I almost blogged.
I was in my house sitting at the computer reading other peoples blogs and posting comments. I was starting to compose a blog post when I was summoned away by the needs of my family. It was close.
Today the Sheriff was at my house.
That's how much fun I'm having.
Fucking WHEEE!!!
The Sheriff did a little parenting for us.
Oh my gosh! I can't tell you how little that seemed to help.
The kid was scared but that only lasted until the officer was gone.
That's ok though because I had a nice cry during Tai Chi class.
Boy was that ever relaxing...NOT!
My world is getting smaller and it revolves around my son.

Weekend of Romance

Sunny and I are going to have 3 days and 2 nights in Spokane ALONE!!
We have a friend that will stay with the kids and treat them to goodies while we are gone.
Sunny and I will go to movies, shopping, have dinner with Sharon's brother and his wife, drink refreshing beverages, and "you know" stuff like that.
We don't get enough time like this. We don't have a lot of people that can watch the kids and my mom is a little past the "watching the kids" stage.
So, there it is!
I hope that you have all had the opportunity to have someone in your life with whom you can share your love. It is the best thing in my life!

ADHD and me

The boy has ADHD and a girlfriend. School isn't really that important except as a place to see friends and get close to the girlfriend (who has broken up with him at least 5 times) . But, when she is "on" she is very exciting. When she is "off" she must be reacquired. This makes for a boy who is no good for anything in either situation. Especially if it has anything to do with school work. He is either very cocky because he has a girlfriend or very depressed because he doesn't. He has his loveable moments. But, when he's in a bad mood...look out! Tonight he called me a shithead and an idiot. I did not kill him. I didn't even raise my voice. I just told him calmly to go to bed. Later, when he came out to get his pills (that was a surprise) he tried to provoke me with his shocking language. It didn't work. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!!! He seems to be in his room watching TV. I wonder if he will have a TV in his room when he comes home from school tomorrow. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!!!
Twas brillig and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe
All mimsy were the borogroves and the mome wraths outgrabe.

Thanks Lewis Carrol! The boy doesn't know what he is up against.

2 weeks later

So, I haven't been bloggin' or readin' any of your blogs.
It's not because I don't love you. I have this new job
and it's been really hard to find a new time to blog.
I have to wake up at 5am and be at work by 6am.
In the evening it's the wrangle the kid show and get to bed by 9(ish).
So, in conclusion, I will try to find a time to
reveal my most intimate thoughts to you
without being too graphic, of course. (unless you would like that)
I am liking my new job. Getting off of work
at 2pm will be really cool in the summer.
Please plan on having a get together with Sunny and me this year.
We are going to be entertaining. You are invited.

The Ladder and I Fell Together

Today, after finishing the snow shoveling on the roof, I stepped down onto the ladder and took one more step down before the ladder slipped away from it's footing. The ladder and I fell onto the front steps. The ladder then slid forward and hit my son in the leg and arm. I felt my foot twisting as it was caught in between two rungs. When I stood up I had to test my foot and leg to see if I could stand on it. The boy has bruises and scratches. I have a pretty good gash in my left shin plus some bruises and scratches of my own. Nothing was broken! Whew! I think I may have torn a ligament or tendon in my left ankle. It's not completely torn but it hurts when I step in certain directions or turn on that foot.
I anticipate some aches and pains over the next few days. I still have to work the next two days. I hope my aches and pains don't keep me from being able to learn, help and keep up.
Please send me your home remedy's for healing and I will consider them for my recovery process.
Thanks,
Greenmoss

Return of Light

Today we celebrate the return of light. The days are getting longer. We acknowledge Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza and Festivus but celebrate the return of longer days.
This is the season when we plan for the upcoming year and as the year unfolds we can fulfill the dreams of the long winter nights.
As we share the long hours with our loved ones, friends and community members inside the warmth of our homes and meeting places we learn what is important to each other and how our lives are intertwined. We can share food, laughter, song, gifts, joy and love.
Thank you all for being in my life!!

i m home 2day

It's Monday. Here I am at home. My new schedule has me at home on weekdays from time to time. I'm going to ask to have Mondays off. That will mean that I am at home and nobody else is here. Not that I don't love my peeps but it is nice to have a little quiet time. The trade off is that I don't have as much time with them when they are all home. However, another trade off is that I am home earlier than they are on weekdays and I can do things like plan dinner and do other things around town that may need to be done. So, we will all have to get used to the new schedule. It also means that I have to try to figure out transportation for G. to get to work because I leave for work well before she does. Does anybody have any ideas out there? I'm going to make some phone calls today to see if I can round something up. Wish me luck.

Cup 'o' Pee

Today I peed in a cup. That was how I met Debby Fisher. She was my Cup 'o' Pee officiator. It is awkward to meet someone that you will be working with, for the first time, by handing them a warm cup or your own urine.
It was nice to meet you Debby. Thanks for accepting my urine as a token of our future working relationship.
I passed (so to speak) the urine drug test. My first of many tests at my new job. I will have my first day learning "treatments" on Wednesday. Tomorrow I go to Spokane with Sunny to buy groceries and perhaps some scrubs. I bought some today at Wal-Mart. They are plain. I'm looking for something a little more interesting. I already had one scrubs shirt that has planets and asteroids etc. on it.

Have Job...Will Not Travel

Yes...I was offered a job yesterday. I will be working at a local Nursing Home. There are many good aspects to that. I will be developing some of the "traditional" nursing skills that I never got to use in public health. I think the people I will be working with will be pretty nice. One of the things that the administrator said in my interview was, "We try to hire nice people." I will be serving a population of people that need TLC and someone to listen to them. I hope I can get up to speed quickly so I can get comfortable enough to "be there" for the people who are living there. One thing about this job, I will not have to travel.
So, to those of you out there that were very supportive to me (you know who you are) while I was looking for work and going through the upheaval of the transition out of the Health District...Thank you from my heart. "Thank you" doesn't seem like enough. I have deepened some relationships that I hope will last the rest of my life. I have learned to love some people that are remarkable and felt loved as well.
I have left behind some relationships that I thought would be lifetime. I was hurt but I am not bitter. As I have said previously, "My conscience is clear." I suspect that most of the people that hurt me think they were doing the right thing at the time. I hope they will begin to see things more clearly over time. I wish them luck and peace.
Change is good even if it is a bit frightening at first.
Someone once said, "Chance favors the prepared mind."
So...Be prepared.(the Boy Scout motto) You never know what's coming around the corner.
Love, peace and good fortune,
Greenmoss
